There are increasing numbers of HR people and recruiters who have looked at my data in the last few years. This is the new copy of this article, the 2013 edition is available.

  • I'm still in London (which is the roles I am targeting, then and now).
  • I have more that I can talk about. I have a range of OSS and alot of content on my site.
  • I have several years use of Symfony2 (look at details). I have published work in Perl, and have done some work in Node and Angular.
  • I present a more capable CV, due to a wider process.
  • I have a routine schedule for professional development, e.g. I go to BCS meetings and meetups meetings. These are much easier in London.
  • I am really pleased to note that things I wanted with respect to “ability” web use in 2000, are now relatively simple. This sentence is unchanged from the first edition, and I still think its an important point. I may be the ideal age/culture/options for a career in IT, but the internet should be usable more a wider range of people than me.
  • The important skills of scheduling, process management, release management, test process are language agnostic. I demonstrate these.
  • In the last two years, I have been focussing on UX. I am passionate about the distinction between UX and graphic design.
  • I have spent substantial time since 2013 adding content and features to this site. This expands accessibility, findability, branding and adds a few new features. This site is now more than a remotely accessible CV. As a convenient point, I replaced my PHP5.1 codebase with PHP7, as the features are now stable, the rewrite made the code alot shorter.
  • As with many people, recently I haven't used an RDBMS, but am using NoSQL?. I think this is better on average, due the newer architecture. Being able to scale your datastore to multiple nodes in a cleaner fashion is a requirement for big data.
  • I am doing projects closer to big data than I used to; but this is just a feature of working for marketing employers. I like data-driven culture surrounding big data more than educated guesses of legacy sales people.
  • I am using the previous training in UX these days.
  • I am organising more work on this site.
